With so many graduates in my life, I could not pass up the opportunity to create a special memory quilt for graduates. Graduation Day (Part One) is #34/100 of the African Canvas Memory Quilt™ series. It has black binding and sashing. It measures 27 x 31 inches and is embellished with inspirational sayings. The word graduate appears on the front of the quilt. The fabric on the back is a black, orange and green geometric print.

It was finished in May, 2006 and sold to the Underground Railroad Quilt Code Museum in Atlanta, GA..

Remember Music Girl?

Music Girl, #13/100 was created for my daughter India. Happily, I can report that 8th grade Honors Day at her school brought new memorabilia that can be added to her quilt. We added academic pins and the band director's award. The state-wide Latin competition yielded a fourth place ribbon for Latin grammar.

Hopefully, you are continuing to add to your memory quilt. Recently, after I broke the chain on a treasured mother's Day necklace, I added the heart-shaped charm that said "Mom" to my personal memory quilt. The necklace may be broken, but I will always have the charm on my quilt to remind me of how lucky I am to be a Mom.

This quilt was given to a co-worker for hosting the office retreat at her home. This same co-worker donated a huge bag of African scraps to the quilter months earlier, so she was partially responsible for the birth of the African Canvas Memory Quilt™ series.
